These week's #linux rolling release update. Arch, @OsEndeavour and Redcore join @openSUSE w/5.14 kernel. Arch wouldn't reboot cleanly from CLI until used GUI for it not sure why. Lots of @libreoffice updates pushed throughout cloud.feneas.org/s/5nEoqX8K8awq…

O inizierebbe improvvisamente a diventare tollerante?

I sordi'so'sordi... 🤔

Why can't we go back to the good old days before all that wussy liberal environmental regulations?!?! Oh...

I thought it was bad enough they used this on movie sets but they sold it to the public too? Jeebus

Yes, literally thin strips of sweet, tasty, flammable lead.

In a normal country full of serious and adult human beings, this would be the only story of the day today and would prompt a hell of a lot of worry from both political parties and every remotely informed or engaged American citizen.

Let's not be led astray by platforms that market their products with the term "Blockchain" - it may not be.... as they say, "it ain't no nevermind".

Well that didn't go well.... I "quote shared" a remote post in my stream and it ended up linking to your post Joseph - apologies, but I'm just going to move along and let the bug stand in the stream. Just know that my post wasn't related to yours 😀

Much of these look like a good start but more can be done, especially when looking at things in the upper echelons of the income curve (like 0.1% instead of 1%). washingtonpost.com/us-policy/2021…

Could Facebook just one try to do the non-malignant thing? I wouldn't be surprised if this system was applied very asymmetrically as well. #DeleteFacebook arstechnica.com/tech-policy/20…

Remember how Google used to be "Don't Be Evil"? I think Failbook secretly has "Don't Be Good".

It tells you something about the poverty of spirit in parts of America that a cult formed around such a small and insignificant man.

@Stefani Banerian These are the same folks who made a literal golden Trump idol to worship at their convention.

I used to think that their "end time" stories of masses of people deciding to worship the "anti-Christ" were just silly and laughably ridiculous. Ever since 2016, though, I have reassessed the plausibility.
Funny how recursive that is. The same folk who believe that stuff are the ones who fail to see it happening to themselves. The biblical lesson was lost on its most ardent followers.

TIL about Airyx. A FreeBSD based OS that seeks to create an open OS w/Mac-like experience and ability to run x86-64 compiled Cocoa apps (however much longer those will be published). Love the explosion in alternative OS's again. (H/T @thomholwerda ) airyx.org

@CosmicTortoise I replaced macOS on my 2011 MacBook Air with ElementaryOS and it's been amazing. It doesn't run Mac apps but this doesn't really yet either. This is still very alpha-ware. If ElementaryOS had in-place major version upgrades I'd probably keep it on there. Since I have to do a reinstall from ISO I'm thinking of giving Arch or Arch-based Garuda Linux a try
I did use Elementary OS, but I am never happy with the desktop experience.

I will try out Garuda Linux, seems promising.

We migrated Stack Overflow's ad server from .NET 4.6.2 to .NET 5.0 and we are testing it on a canary server in production.

We are seeing big improvements in memory usage and in server response times. It wasn't the main goal of the migration, but definitely a nice to have.

Maybe we should stop asking candidates if they will accept the results of elections, as if there are multiple acceptable answers to that question.

It's deja vu all over again. This is just modern day Republicanism in the Trump era. It's anti-democratic at its core and it won't get better. It will sink the country if D's, I's, and non-Trumpist R's don't vote against it for every seat in every election news.yahoo.com/trump-tells-vo…
