Facebook to allow workers to work remotely

NEW: Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg is telling employees this morning they plan to hire aggressively for remote workers, and existing employees can soon request to work remote permanently. Says 50% of FB’s workforce could be remote in 5 to 10 years.

I would hope FB will be dead in 5 let alone 10.

"On the other hand, you have people like the owners of Google, Facebook and Microsoft. They tell you it’s better to give up [privacy]— it helps society, it’s pointless to try." http://techrights.org/2020/05/22/hsw-echelon/

"These devices take something sacred from us — they are an attack on our humanity, and they make us live more like livestock. They are historical instruments of global war and international oppression, and they are not justifiable by any means."

Well I can't see people seeing the light, apparently people don't care about privacy, I think we should just concentrate on making the fediverse better and try the subliminal approach to promotion as in if they can say this event is on facebook, we say this event is on Mastodon for example.

"We already know that most people aren’t going to yet. Look around, very few are resisting it. But it’s much more than no one."

one thing the fediverse (practically ALL of it) could do is get the fuck off microsoft github...

/tootsuite/mastodon, diaspora/diaspora, ssbc/ssb-server, ether/etherpad-lite, /nextcloud/server -- a federation all based on microsoft! a joke!

Good point there, especially given there are plenty of alternatives to github.
