The problem with JK Rowling is that her fan base raised her up to be pinnacle of moral purity and when it turns out she disagreed with them on a few points, she became garbage to them because she's actually (spoilers) a human being with flaws. Just like all of us, she has a few things she's really good at and most things she's not, things she's very right about and some not so much. Guess what former Potter fans, there are WAAAYYYY more problematic artists and writers you like and there are other pinnacles of morality you hold up which in the future will crush you. Why I find this whole backlash experience so weird and whyI've found it hard to put my finger on what my issue with it was. Much of the people who's work I enjoy, I strongly disagree with on certain issues. That's called artists being humans. If you can't deal with Rowling not being a goddess of morality, without utterly hating her, you need to take pretty much every single pop culture media and piece of art or literature you love and burn them right now so they won't let you down if you find out you disagree with them. Never meet your heroes, they will ALWAYS let you down. Enjoy their work but don't expect them to even remotely 100% agree with you. because they aren't Saints just people good at one skill that enriches your life.
