Look at this:

At a certain point M$ has to stop selling licenses for developing because Devs can get tired of this behave when have plenty of LinuxOS for free and M$ doesn't want go against the devs like did in the 80's, 90's and at the beginning of the 2000. The only solution is an Open Source stack on top of sort kind of wrap around WSL toward exclusively Azure...

SVG support in GIMP

Dear @GIMP

I am not sure if this is the most appropriate space but I have a question.

#SVG support in #GIMP would be a really nice feature in terms of vector clipping mask and vector shapes on Canvas rather than with Gfig. I was wondering if hasn't been included for technical reason, or because considered useless, or something else...

Just curiosity...

Thanks

#gimp #floss #foss #opensource

Well, GIMP is a bitmap drawing program (raster), designed to handle arrays of pixels, while SVG is a vector format, a set of drawing primitives. Those are much different ways of drawing. If you want to edit SVG you really want to look at a vector drawing program like Inkscape instead.

Why vector layers would be useful in GIMP it is explained here.

Since the moment SVG is an open standard I just though that is natural implementing that on GIMP, however I am totally fine any other solution that can achieve the same result.

RMS did not fail!

Dear @JoeRessington of #LateNightLinux I heard your episode 73 and I can't allow some comments you did.

Let me also say to you that you speak about #Linux, #opensource and #freesoftware but you don't have even a federated/fediverse account, for the sake of what you profess it would be nice having you here for a real confrontation.

You stated that #RMS failed on all the fields he challenged, but this a lie as well as a misconception. Without RMS we would not have #GNU, the #GPL and con... show more

do you mean confrontation or discussion?

Good question... Maybe both... Sometimes is hard finding the right words...
