I am so happy to have get rid off gmeil...

I am in the process to move everything from my old gmeil account to my brand new mailbox.org account.
Mailbox has a very nice webui however it lacks of some features respect gmeil and it is not fast as the gugl service. It doesn't mean that is not good, but it can't still compete with gmeil at the same level. Thus while with gmeil I stopped to use any desktop client as I used to do, because mostly useless, with Mailbox I started to use Mozilla Thunderbird again.
I have completely forgot about the pleasure of use an email client, In first place it has been very useful to move all the emails I needed from gmeil to mailbox seamlessly, pretty cool indeed; but then I started to use all the cool features that Thunderbird has.
For example Mailbox still not support labels while Thunderbird can use tags, so I was able to organize all my emails very quickly in I way I like. Another aspect is checking the email with Thunderbird is faster than with the Mailbox webmail, and now at home I am using just Thunderbird, while at work, since the moment I don't need to check constantly my personal emails, the webmail works fine for me and it is nicely to use. The webmail has the category like gmeil, but while with gmeil I never used this fuction (always had the feeling that you couldn't modify how those work) in Mailbox you can organize what displaying in these categories, that helps to avoid having too much unread messages in the main mailbox.
I was also able to connect my xmpp mail box account in Thunderbird as well the calendar. I am pretty happy with Thunderbird now, it reminds me at the old time when gmeil still sucked. Without the megapowa of Gugl suddenly Thunderbird appeared to me as a super cool client and with the dark theme and all the emails colored by the tags the look and feel is absolutely cool! More pleasant than Gmeil.
Long life to Mozilla Thunderbird! 🍻
eventually I decided to use Mailbox.org as my personal email and moving far away from gmail as soon as possible.
I used as reference this guide: https://www.fsf.org/resources/webmail-systems
and I almost checked out all of those but not the one with weird names, I would like to use my new email also for work and then I needed something that is easy to pronounce in English, Spanish and Italian.
At the very beginning I started with Posteo.org, very cute but the old UI/UX drove me crazy, I also tried it for a while with Thunderbird but the lacking of a modern desktop client (bugs-free) eventually made change my mind (and my money).
Probably ProtonMail is the best one, but even if you can have a free account when you start to want more space the price gets high very quickly while Mailbox has a good balance between features, price and UI/UX. I am pretty satisfied indeed.
I have just started, probably I will need a bit of adaptation but I am pretty confident I will be quickly productive and my old gmail account will be converted in my garbage email, cool!
