Everyone can be hacked even extremely careful and aware people like Jack Dorsey :(

I wonder what a business model for a game company would look like if it was built union from the ground up with everyone, owners, management, workers, on board?

@Richard Healy I'm not sure. I've never worked in a union place. I always heard about the perpetual death marches and insane hours at game shops so there was never a desire to work for them. I think more than union it is the shared risk/reward model of ownership or a proxy for ownership.

An interesting look at how Unix got started. The oral history of Unix site [ https://www.princeton.edu/~hos/Mahoney/unixhistory ] is definitely worth a look for a more personal look at the peopl

Awesome news! Hats off Microsoft!

If they had any balls, they would opensource NTFS so Linux can natively access MS filesystem.

Yes open sourcing or at least clearing potential patent problems from NTFS would be even better :)

@Hank G and why are a lot of SD cards formatted as exFAT? Exactly: because MS Windows can't cope with a decent FS... ;)

@Rob Bosch MS Windows has had NTFS in every mainline OS for more than a decade. They had to make ExFAT to get around FAT limitations and they did that instead of going to NTFS. I think part of that is because MS held the rights to NTFS close to the vest and it was harder to implement NTFS for Mac therefore it was FAT/ExFAT that won the popularity war on that.

My dad played a prank on us like this when we were kids. This made me smile :)

This is one of my favorite things about Women is that they will prank almost like anyone .. esp Moms.. that's great stuff

In your head, "Who wrote this sh*t?"

Apparently it's share scifi artists day for me...

Got carded buying kombucha at store. I knew it had traces of alcohol but not up to 3.5%! That's as much or more than lots of light beers, even Heineken. Something tells me it's usually closer to the 0.5% floor it also states.

Ran across this artist's scifi art today and am astounded! #art #scifi https://www.artstation.com/pao

I love the idea of growing my food but not the hassles I hit like weeding. I tried hydroponics before but this takes it to the next level and looks like can help do it with my erratic travel schedule and in real volume! Already pre-ordered! #gardening

YouTube: Gardyn (Gardyn Home)

$1,199 for the unit + a monthly subscription. Really the same thing can be done with $300 in lights and shelves plus a little basic knowledge of hydroponics. I just got off the phone with them.

@jasonvivier Yeah a DYI type person with knowledge could probably beat price point without feature parity probably. I'm not that person though. For me having something like this off the shelf with some of the design choices which will make has advantages over some things I've tried before like AeroGarden's stuff has me very excited about it.

You say you called them? Was that for a technical exchange or something else?

I was interested in purchasing one. The reality is that the AI component (their primary selling point) is wholly unnecessary. With these types of hydroponics systems as long as the nutrients are flowing your plants are fine.

Here is the same idea without AI. https://amzn.to/305ah5S

I will add that their systems is nice looking and now I kind of want to make one with some logic (using raspberry pi) and create a DIY kit for building a nice looking indoor garden with lighting. But who has the time?

Imagining @Hank G knee-deep in weeds: "this was so much better when it was just a concept!!"

I've been there. I've tried outdoor self-watering container gardening too. That works better but still annoying when traveling and everything dries out and the post-season cleanup stuff. Tried indoor hydroponics with Aerogardens which are little small things that dry out too. Their modular system and "growing assistant" which can regulate light and water levels when "away" looks really promising to me.

@Hank G Interested to hear how it goes!

I like hydroponics. Conceptually. For people with executive ability.

What is "executive ability"?

@Hank G The ability to want to do a thing and then actually do it without getting distracted and/or procrastinate. Closely related to the concept of "having spoons".

Actually I'm hoping the automation aspect will make it possible t odo even with my distraction and procastination. Long term attention is what kills my previous gardening attempts. :)

@Hank G Then I'm even more interested to hear how it goes. :-)

Well I guess some things never change :D
