My posts are still disappearing. I turned off all retire old post settings, and someone turned them back on. What is going on?

I also notice that some peoples comments on my posts have disappeared while my replies remain.

Hey Joeseph... I'm digging in to this. Can you provide any links to examples where comments have disappeared?

I got this comment in an email that I never saw in the comments "Hmm, I see that it's pretty easy to change an advanced setting and move on to something else without saving those settings. Are you saving the settings after adjusting one of the advanced settings?" by Adam Clark(Comment to conversation #2930394). So would that be one of your comments disappearing?

Do you still happen to have that email?

Adam Clark commented on an item/conversation you have been following.

Please visit https://social.isurf.ca to view or reply to the conversation.

I do distinctly recall posting that comment. Thanks for reminding me, and yes, that comment appears to have disappeared. Further digging tomorrow...

Greetings.

Greetings.

Made a few posts in the feed. Now I see that some of them have disappeared without any warning.
Do you know what could be wrong?

It will be interesting to see if anyone loses any further content with those advanced settings off. I'll be disabling it myself to see what happens.

@Adam Clark Since turning off the advanced expiration settings I don't seem to be losing any more posts.

Noticed weak encryption on this Friendica instance probably because of loading insecure http content or something like that. Someone suggested that you could use the information on this website to change that behavior so people would not get anxious about seeing this behavior on what they believe should be a totally encrypted site. My understanding is that this has to be corrected on the Friendica Server here. #encryption #broken-encryption

It only means that some content that is linked on the page is being linked to via http instead of https. This happens if people share things from http links.

If you're interested in seeing what's being loaded, turn on the developer tools in your browser and you should be able to find out all the pieces that are being loaded on any given page.

XMPP services @ social.isurf.ca

!iSurf Support

As there was a question posted about this I wanted to create a public post here to mention that we do have an XMPP chat server here @ social.isurf.ca and you are able to use it since you're a social.isurf.ca user!

The clients that I am familiar with that work with XMPP are: Pidgin, Gajim (Linux/Windows desktop clients), Conversations and Xabber for Android. There's clients for MacOS and IOS as well, a list of clients can be found at xmpp.org.

The only tie-in to the Friendica software at this point is authentication, so that means your roster of contacts and whatnot for XMPP contacts is separate from your Friendica contacts.

If you want to try it out at any point, your username for XMPP is username@social.isurf.ca . (if your username on social.isurf.ca was 'bob', then it would be bob@social.isurf.ca )

At some point in the future I would like to see a chat widget show up in Friendica - hopefully that can be fixed in the not too distant future.

I am noticing some changes since the update to RC. Specifically, I used to be able to (on top posts at least) click link, see a dialog box, paste the link, then see the preview showing the link embedded. Now, it defaults to the url tags and does not embed even if I put on my glasses to get the cursor in between the tags. I also do not see an image icon or video icon (this is in Frio) which was user friendly. Am I missing something or did a change take place that reversed some usability?

Good question - best to ask in the Friendica support forum. I'm not aware of all the changes, but the devs would be interested in hearing about your experience.

I've gone to settings, additional features, general, allow calendar export. What I can't find is what to tell others on how to export my calendar. Can anyone help?

Let me quote the help on this:

Calendar Export

If you want to export your public events to ical or csv, you can activate an additional feature in your user settings (Additional features -> General Features -> Export Public Calendar). Afterwards a link will be shown in the events page of your profile to access the calendar.

If I go to your profile and the Events tab/page, there's export options that show up in the left sidebar menu.

I tried using another account to look for that but was not able to do so. My guess is browser cache issue so I will look at another user account and see if I can see what the help is telling above so I can make a screenshot.

Hey Shelenn,

It probably would have been helpful for me to do a screenshot so you can see what I've seen when looking at your profile's events page:

Some profile fields set to 'e' and not editable?

!iSurf Support I notice that my profile has some information I did not enter myself, and can't edit:
- on the left box, relationship status shows as 'e'
- on the basic tab it shows as 'e never'
- on the advanced tab, sexual preference shows as 'e'

If I edit my profile, these fields do not show up, even after toggling "show more profile fields". In fact I don't think any extra field actually shows up?

Thanks in advance, and Happy New Year!

I've dropped you from the contact list on Progressive Refuge community forum @Tara
So you can try again to see how long it takes.

Thank you Shelenn! It worked perfectly! I was able to connect again, AND I am now showing up on the contacts on the Progressive Refuge profile, as well as on my own profile! Thank you!
